On our way back home, with just a quick detour off the highway, we stumbled upon Werdenberg—a hidden gem of a medieval village nestled by a tranquil lake. It felt like stepping back in time, with charming timbered houses reflected perfectly in the still waters, as if the whole scene had been painted by an old master.
This village, one of the smallest cities in Switzerland, is like a living museum, with its castle perched on the hill and cobblestone streets whispering tales of centuries past. We wandered through the narrow lanes, half expecting to bump into a knight or a fair maiden. It was a peaceful pause on our journey, a reminder that sometimes the best adventures are found in unexpected places.
